Applying for the Amateur Station Operator’s Certificate (ASOC)
This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for registering, appearing for the exam, and obtaining your Amateur Radio License via the Saral Sanchar portal.
Phase 1: Portal Registration
Before you can apply for an exam, you must create an official account.
Access the Portal: Visit the Saral Sanchar website.
Select Registration Type: Choose Individual (WPC Exams/Certificates).
Verify Identity: Enter your email and mobile number to receive two separate OTPs; both must be verified to proceed.
First Login: Use the UserID and temporary password sent to your email.
Update Password: You will be prompted to set a new password (minimum 8 characters, including one uppercase letter, one digit, and one special character).
Phase 2: Completing Your Profile
The application forms remain locked until your personal profile is fully updated.
Personal Info: Fill in your name, date of birth, parent’s/spouse's name, and physical descriptors (height, eye/hair color).
Address Details: Provide both your present and permanent addresses.
Nationality: Select Indian or Foreign (foreign nationals must provide passport and visa details).
Phase 3: The Exam Application (ASOC)
Once your profile is ready, follow these steps to register for the test:
Select Exam: Navigate to the examination menu and choose "Amateur Station Exam".
Upload Documents: Attach the following (ensure file sizes are within limits) and those are attested by a *Gazetted Officer :
Photograph (< 250KB) and Signature (< 150KB).
DOB Proof and Nationality Certificate (PDF < 1MB) *.
ID Proof (e.g., AADHAR, PAN) and Address Proofs *.
Choose Preferences: Select your license category (Restricted or General) and your preferred exam center.
Pay Exam Fee:
Submit: Click "Validate Application" to check for errors, then click Submit.
Phase 4: Examination & Hall Ticket
Scrutiny: The DoT will review your application.
Notification: You will receive an SMS regarding the exam date and venue.
Hall Ticket: Download your hall ticket directly from the portal once issued.
Phase 5: Obtaining Your License
After successfully passing the exam, you must apply for the certificate/license itself.
License Application: Select "Apply for Certificates" and then "Amateur".
Call Sign Request: List three preferences for your unique Call Sign (e.g., VU3XXX).
Pay Licensing Fee: Pay the required fee via Bharatkosh (₹1000 for 20 years or ₹2000 for lifetime).
Final Upload:
Download the system-generated application.
Sign it manually with a pen.
Scan and upload the signed copy to the portal for final processing.
